When you hear the new 2023 diesel engine knocking, it'll be hard not to answer. The 3.0L inline-six Duramax gives your diesel engine a little more horsepower and torque with 305 and 495 lb.-ft, respectively. The returned turbo, new pistons, and new fuel injectors make the 2023 Silverado diesel more powerful than last year's version. But there's a few more engine options available.
The 6.2L V8 is the quickest engine of the engine lineup, with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-.ft. of torque. You can find this version inside the High Country with a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds. The 5.3L V8 has 355 horsepower and a 6.1 second 0-60 time. And the turbocharged 2.7L four-cylinder engine, standard, delivers 310 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.
And when properly equipped, the Silverado 1500 can tow up to 13,300 lbs. in Northern New Jersey. The smaller 5.3L V8 can pull up to 11,500 lbs., and the turbocharged four-cylinder setup will tow 9,500 lbs. Whether you need to help pull a family member's car out of the mud or you want to hang out off-road, the Silverado can answer the call.
